Information and Policies

Thank you for choosing Sankofa Beach – The Residences for your beach stay. The following Information and Policies is designed to enhance your stay!

Check-In Time 2:00 PM | Check-Out Time 12:00 PM

Please check with your host reservations person if you require changes to this schedule and they will attempt to accommodate your request. Depending upon availability, we often allow early check in and late checkout.

Room Key

At the time of check in, you are given a key to the room. You are responsible for the key. In the event the key is lost, you will be responsible for the replacement of the key or the entire lock set.

Linen

  • Sheets and pillow cases are changed upon request.
  • Extra pillows are available upon request.
  • Extra towels are stored in the room and available upon request.
  • Blankets are available in upon request.
  • Cloth Face Towels are available upon request.

Hot Water

Hot Water is available in all of the rooms.

Generator

In the event of a loss of power, there are two back-up generators. 

Outlets

The output from outlets is 220 voltage. Nearly all of our outlets accept multi-pronged devices. If you are bringing a high voltage appliance into the room, please check with the staff to make sure the outlets can support the appliance.

Room Cleaning

As a rule, we do not enter your room without your permission. Your room is cleaned only when you communicate to the cleaning staff your desire to clean the room and change towels and linen. For longer term stays, complete room cleaning (involving changing of linen and towels) is complimentary after every 2 days. If cleaning is required before 2 days, the cleaning will attract an additional charge. 

Breakfast

The room rate does not include breakfast. There is a Breakfast Menu available with details.

Meals

At any given time, Chez Justine operates up to three commercial kitchens. We are able to serve a wide range of meals outside of the set menu pulling from cuisines around the world and provide meals ranging from local to high-end cuisine.  If the kitchen staff has the time and ingredients, they will be able to handle special request. Please talk to the chef of the day to determine what is available and if you have a special request, let us know.

Trash and Waste Disposal

Trash is collected at the time of check out or upon request. Please help us to keep the house, the grounds and the beach clean.

Laundry and Ironing

There is a Laundry Bay at the entrance for washing and ironing. Ironing in the rooms is forbidden.

There is a clothes line near the parking lot. You should feel free to use the line and ironing services yourself or request staff assistance.

For guests staying longer than 2 nights, we offer laundry services for a reasonable price. Please contact the staff if you need assistance.

Fire Security

Sankofa Beach – The Residences maintains fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in all of the rooms and the Main House. Please take all precautions to avoid fires.

Massage Services

Underneath the Front Row chalet there is a massage room. If you would like to book an appointment for a massage, please contact the Bar. A 24-hour advance notice is required in most cases.

Wi-Fi Internet

There are Wi-Fi internet routers available for free while at the Sankofa Beach – The Residences. 

Sankofa Beach Bar

Sankofa Beach Bar and huts in front of our property are available to all our guests so long as we have not booked additional day visitors in those areas. 

Walking on the Beach

You will find walking on the beach is a great source of exercise. You will enjoy the fresh air and peace of mind, as well as, an opportunity to massage your feet when walking barefoot. If you walk east, you will pass a series of new construction Beach accommodations all with different architectural characteristics, the village of Langma, and fishing boats. At the end is an impassable stone formation jutting out onto the ocean with the uncompleted high-rise hotel in Kokrobite. If you walk west, you will pass Sandpiper Beach Hotel, Lloyd’s Hotel, Kuvuki and a few beach houses and mostly open space. The beach in this direction is where you will find seashells and stones as you approach the village of Gomoa Nyanyano, a fishing village down the road from Kasao. Often you will meet the local fishermen and their families. While walking on the beach is generally safe, please practice ordinary security precautions.

Swimming

Sankofa Beach – The Residences is one of the best places in the area to swim since there are relatively few rocks on our shoreline. As you are swimming you should be careful of the slight under-tow which varies in intensity. We provide life guards on the weekends. Swimming alone is not advised, and if you cannot swim do not go further than thigh high into the water. 

Children

Children are welcome at the beach. We ask that you properly supervise your children during your entire stay at Sankofa Beach – The Residences for their safety and security.

Pets

Pets are NOT allowed in any of the building structures. 

Getting In and Out

There are two main roads into the Sankofa Beach – The Residences. The “Kokrobite” road that approaches from Mallam Junction on the Cape Coast/Kasao/Winneba Road where you turn at the “Old” Weija Barrier and pass “Bojo Beach” and the villages of Aplaku, Bortianor, Oshie and Kokrobite before getting to Langma.

The other road is called the “Tuba” Road (poultry farm road), you will approach from the “old” toll gate and police barrier. Uber, Bolt and Yango, ride hailing services, and taxis are available to guests.

Shopping

There are small shops in Kokrobite for goods and drinks. New places to purchase thing spring up regularly.

On Sundays vendors will come to the beach to sell gift items, fruits and fresh ocean fish, and seafood.

On the Cape Coast road there is the West Hills Mall, currently the largest mall in West Africa inclusive of a Silverbird Theater, children’s play area, ATM’s and restaurants. 

Games

Board games, darts, draughts, chess and cards are available at the restaurant. You are welcome to use them, but we ask that you take care of them and put them away when you are finished using them.

Library

There is a small library of books in the dining room of the Main House and the Restaurant. Feel free to borrow a book to read during your stay. If you are finished with a book that you brought to the beach, you are welcome to add it to our collection.

Televisions

Many of the rooms have televisions. Where televisions are available, they have the DSTV bouquet of channels. 

First Aid

There is a first aid kit to treat “basic” injuries and discomforts. If needed, please make a request from the staff.

Volley Ball and Football

We have volley balls and a net and football/soccer balls available for free upon request. We only request that you take care of the balls and be sure to return them. 

Summer Hut

The Summer Hut is available to all guests of Sankofa Beach “The Residences”. If you need additional tables or chairs, sun beds or music, please contact the Bar staff. There are times that the Summer Hut is booked for private events and you will be informed if there is an event planned during your stay. In which case, we will find alternate places along the beach front for you to spend the day.

Hammocks

There are two hammocks available for use by our guests. If you would like to use them, please feel free.

Changing/Washrooms Rooms

There are nine outside public changing/wash rooms with sinks, toilets, urinals and showers for all our guests. Please try to take a shower to wash off most of the sand after coming in from the beach and before entering the rooms.

Outside Music

You’re welcome to play your own music so long as your music does not disturb other guests. 

Grills

If you are interested in grilling your own food, please contact the Bar staff to make arrangements for the use of one of our grills.

Credit Cards

We do offer the option of payment by credit card.
Please contact the Bar staff to get additional information about how you can use your credit card to pay for rooms and services.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the rooms, but is allowed and on the compound. For those who do smoke, please be courteous to our other guests who oppose the presence of smoke. If you do smoke, we request that you use great care in monitoring and disposing of the ashes.

Final Comments

Tips

We encourage you to tip the staff if you are impressed by the food, drinks and service you have received during your-stay.

Conserve Water and Electricity

Please assist us in conserving electricity and water by turning off unused lights, appliances and turning off your water taps to prevent drips.

Report Problems

If at any time during your visit you see or experience a problem, something broken or in need of repair, please let us know by telling us. Also, please feel free to express any ideas or pleasures on one of our social media platforms. 

Cancellation Policy

All reservations at Sankofa Beach – The Residences require a 50% deposit. All deposits and payments are non-refundable.
